Lil Nas X rode his way into our hearts with his chart topping hit ‘Old Town Road’ Remix with Billy Ray Cyrus this past April. Since it’s release, the song has remained at the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 100. After the success with ‘Old Town Road’ Lil Nas X released his EP titled 7 which features artists such as Cardi B and Billy Ray Cyrus. However, the chart topper is now making headlines for addressing his sexuality. Although the Atlanta based artist made his sexuality pretty obvious, he asked his twitter followers to pay close attention to the lyrics in his song ‘c7osure.’ “Ain't no more actin', man that forecast say I should just let me grow No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take a hold This is what I gotta do, can't be regretting when I'm old Brand new places I'll choose and I'll go, I know Embracing this news I behold unfolding I know, I know, I know it don't feel like it's time But I look back at this moment, I'll see that I'm fine I know, I know, I know it don't feel like it's time I set boundaries for myself, it's time to cross the line” Lil Nas X also sent out another tweet to his followers which pointed out a skyscraper covered in rainbow lights which is on the cover of his EP, “7” and noted “Deadass thought I made it obvious.” We’ve seen how this has played out in the past with Frank Ocean. Frank Ocean took the world by storm with his hit ‘Thinking Bout You; however, once he disclosed his sexuality to the world his support quickly diminished. We hope that is not the case with Lil Nas X and any other artist that decides to be vulnerable with their true self. One's sexuality should not affect their dreams, artistry and the like. Unfortunately with this new aged social media “Cancel” era you never know.
