Wednesday, July 20th, DC Swim Week brought Miami to Washingtonians for a second year in a row. Although this event is fairly new to the District, the brand has definitely solidified their stake in the fashion industry by including over twenty designers from eight countries. This event promoted not only national and international designers, but also feature an array of local designers. According to the programming Director Oliwia Garaj, DC Swim Week seeks to create a platform not only for international well-known designers but also for local artists and more importantly the models. Each show throughout the week included local and professional models that can be found ripping the runways in New York and Miami.
DC Swim Week kicked off with Press Night on July 20th at Café Milano. The press reception featured brands such as Banana Moon, Livia Monte-Carlo and Universal Gear. After showcasing trendy and colorful fashions, attendees were given the opportunity to mix and mingle in a festive filled atmosphere.
The Grand Finale of DC Swim Week took place Saturday, July 23rd at the boutique styled Embassy Row Hotel. The night was filled with trendy, vivacious, and couture swimwear fashions, which was paired with live performances. Takeaway trends to bring into the next year include jewels, sequins, applique, sexy cutouts, sheer paneling, mix of textures and vibrant colors. This season is definitely for the feminine and confident woman. If you missed this year’s DC Swim Week you definitely will not want to miss out next year!
